Why Upward?
Upward Soccer programming focuses on building a healthy competitive spirit and developing soccer skills in young athletes while reaching them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is based on Luke 2:52: “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”
With everyone busier than ever, Upward Soccer’s schedule of one, one-hour practice during the week and one, one-hour game each week on Saturday is designed with your family in mind! After evaluations, every child is placed on a team and has an equal opportunity for playing time throughout the season. All evaluations, practices, and games are held at the TBC sports fields, rather than requiring families to travel to multiple locations during the season. At TBC, we are able to welcome players ranging from K5-8th grade as participants in our Upward Soccer league.

Game Format
To provide a safe and competitive environment for all players, the league will be organized in divisions based on the current grade of each player. Each division will use a specific game format, ball size, and set of rules based on the Upward Sports and United States Soccer Federation reccomendations. The basic format for each division will be as follows:
- The K5/1st grade division will play 5v5 on a small field, using a size 4 ball and no goalie.
- The 2nd/3rd grade division will play 5v5 on a small field, using a size 4 ball and no goalie.
- The 4th/5th grade division will play 7v7 on a mid-size field, using a size 4 ball and a goalie.
- The 6th-8th grade division will play 11v11 on a full-size field, using a size 5 ball and a goalie.
- Note: The 6th-8th grade division will play on the TBCA athletics field, on the opposite end of the TBC property at 1356 Whicker Rd.
Volunteers
Our volunteers are crucial to our Upward Soccer league. Coaches, referees, and other volunteers provide a Christ-like example for players and families. All of our volunteers serve to accomplish the mission of TBC’s Upward leagues: promoting the discovery of Jesus Christ through sports.
Other volunteers are always needed to help on evaluation day, be a part of our league prayer team, work in the concessions stand, serve on the groundskeeper crew, and more! Reach out to our program director, Aidan Brooks, and he would be happy to help find a place for you to serve that best utilizes your skills and availability.
