Families are looking for activities that will get their children out of the house and having fun again! Upward Basketball and Cheer is an opportunity for your child to interact with kids their own age and get some exercise.

Coaches, referees, and adult volunteers are always needed!

Our volunteers are crucial to our Upward Basketball & Cheerleading league. Coaches, referees, and other volunteers provide a Christ-like example for players and families. All of our volunteers serve to accomplish the mission of TBC’s Upward leagues: promoting the discovery of Jesus Christ through sports.

Coaches have the unique opportunity to invest twelve weeks of their time, getting to know their players while teaching them the fundamentals of basketball or cheerleading and sharing the Gospel with them and their families. Referees serve on gamedays to enforce the rules of play, keep time, and help to maintain a positive and supportive atmosphere for players.

Can’t commit to serving as a coach or referee? Other volunteers are always needed to help on evaluation day, be a part of our league prayer team, work in the concessions stand, serve Kevin Peele, and he would be happy to help find a place for you to serve that best utilizes your skills and availability.

Upward Sports programming focuses on building a healthy competitive spirit and developing sports skills in young athletes while reaching them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our mission is based on Luke 2:52: “And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man.”

Coaches, referees, and parents strive to help players develop mentally, athletically, spiritually, and socially through sports.

Families are busier than ever, so Upward Sports’ schedule of a single, one-hour practice and a one-hour game each week on Saturday is designed with you in mind! There are no tryouts, so every child will be placed on a team and have an equal opportunity to participate throughout the season. This season, we are able to offer basketball for players ranging from K5 to 6th grade, and cheerleading for girls ranging from K5 to 4th grade.
