Turn on the Light

The Bible says that Jesus is the light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world (John 1:9). When Jesus arose from the dead so long ago, he became the light that lighteth every man that will come to him by faith and repentance (John 1:12). To every one who believes in Jesus Christ, he simply turns on the light inside of man's spirit so that Jesus now becomes the light and guide inside the person's innermost being.

The truth of the matter is, there is not much difference between the sinners and the saints. We are all in the same night so to speak. We are all stumbling trying to see our own way. The only difference is that we, the believers, have this little flickering light inside of us. Sometimes we do not even really understand how we could have it because we are going through the same stuff everyone else is going through. Nonetheless, we have a little light in our spirit that has been turned on through the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ resulting in a believer's salvation through faith. Whenever God gets ready to move us or turn us or twist us or snatch us out of a situation, it is all because of that little light in our spirit is being guided by the Spirit of God.

In my spirit, I am saved right now. In my body and mind I am being saved and will one day be saved. So understand this truth- the Christian is alive in his spirit, crucifying his flesh daily as his Savior did only once upon the cross. And as a result we are being transformed in our minds into the likeness of Christ's resurrection in order to walk in newness of life.

The sinner however, is alive in his flesh but dead in his spirit. That is why no matter what a sinner does in his flesh it does not bring life or light in his spirit. It brings good feelings for a moment but then you have to go out and do it again because you cannot find anything in this earthly life to illuminate your spirit. The sinner can titillate the flesh but he cannot bring the spirit to life. Only Jesus Christ lighteth the light of the spirit inside of men.

These truths are the power of the resurrection to be put into practical experience. We allow the light now inside of us through his Spirit to lead our spirit. The result is that we live out the power of the death burial and resurrection in a daily way as we yield him our spirit and follow the light.
