The grass is growing and turning greener by the day, flowers are springing up, and leaves are returning to the trees. You see buds, blossoms and lots of pollen! Spiders, bugs, bees, flies and birds are all around. Mosquitos are on the way. People are returning to outside activity after being cooped up for months to avoid the cold weather. Things that have been dormant or that appeared to be dead or gone over the long winter are reappearing and returning and coming back to life. What’s going on?
It’s spring – an exciting time of the year that is full of life and serves as a reminder of the resurrection of Jesus Christ which secured eternal life for all believers.
The most important event in Christian history was when Jesus Christ vacated that tomb which, supposedly, was a place of victory for Satan against his arch rival. This crucified Jesus was put away with the intent of never being heard from again. But we know the rest of the story. In Revelation 1:18 Jesus says, “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.“ Jesus did just what He promised his disciples He would do.
So this is the time of year to celebrate Jesus’ coming out of that tomb alive as we see God’s creation coming back to life all around us. It’s a time to celebrate the gospel: the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It’s a time to celebrate eternal life and the hope we have of seeing our loved ones who have already transitioned to heaven.
We hope you’ll join us in a few weeks as we corporately celebrate Jesus’ resurrection on Easter Sunday, April 17, in our Sunday morning services. It will be a special time of worship and praise.
We will also celebrate on April 9 and 10, Saturday and Sunday, 5:30pm both nights in the Worship Center as our adult choir presents, Jesus the Undefeated One. The evening will be filled with songs of jubilant praise, intimately worshipful ballads, and powerfully impacting songs of testimony and faith which tell the story of Jesus’ earthly ministry, His triumphal entry into Jerusalem, His last supper with the disciples in the upper room, His death on the cross and culminates with His resurrection from the grave where we celebrate our victorious redeemer - Jesus the Undefeated One. We invite you to join us for a night of worship, praise, communion and celebration.
