I Will Go

2
Go

Gen. 24: 56-58 “…Do not delay me…and she (Rebekah) said, ‘I will go.’”

When Eliezer told his story to the brothers and father of Rebekah about Abraham and Isaac, they immediately agreed to the marriage between Isaac and Rebekah.  But when Eliezer told them they must leave immediately, there was push back and they wanted to delay leaving by 10 days. Then, they called in Rebekah to ask her what she wanted to do—she was ready to go. Rebekah and Eliezer left immediately, returning to Canaan.

No doubt this was surprising to her family. They may have thought she would agree to a pause before her departure. Delaying may have been their way of keeping and convincing her not to go.  Rebekah was ready, willing, and chose to not delay.  Our call to serve, to obey, and to follow has an immediacy aspect. The journey is long, the challenges are many, and too often those who seek to put off or delay—never leave.

The enemy will always give us lots of excuses and reasons for not going, not serving, and not obeying!  But, when our Lord calls, to wherever and whenever… to do whatever, may our answer be immediately, “I will go.” Most of the time those who opt for the 10-day-delay, never leave.  And if they eventually do, it is a longer delay and the opportunities and blessings that were designed for them are assigned to others who are ready, willing, and prompt.

I can definitely understand this. Before my bad accident I was doing whatever I wanted to do and living my “own world” not really praying or observing anything that didn’t “matter” to me. Yes I was baptized when I was born so I just figured that was all I needed. I would go to work as a fireman for 24 hours and be extremely nice to anyone I made contact with but then when I got off in the morning all I did was drive a tractor while other men got the tobacco leaves up. I drank a lot and I thought everything was ok since I assisted and helped others and protected their house if there was a fire or a collapse every 3rd day.
Then because I was drinking so much on my days off I was in a 4 wheeler accident on July 4 2014. I was in a coma for almost 2 months but God brought me back to life. I started coming to church after that and started to realize my accident and why I am still here. As time went on I started having the attitude I used to have even though I stayed alive after my 4 wheeler accident. On January 29 2019 I was in a bad truck accident and was pinned in my truck. I was unconscious but only for around 8 hours. I realized that I had to change my life and I needed to start going to Triad Baptist as much as I could, make friends there and do whatever I can for other people. Now even though I don’t have “friends” like I used to, I have people who are more like family to me that I would do anything for and I feel so much better and so much happier that my life has changed. In my true belief about where I was and where I am now, I believe that God always has priority over everything and can do anything but when I think about who saved me and changed me I can honestly say that my mom, my dad and Pastor Rob truly changed my life and I cannot be more thankful for this
Truth!!!!
