Psalm 90:12 says, “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” Now, I really like the New Year. It gives me a personal opportunity to reflect, to learn, to grow, to refocus, and to recommit myself. I see it as an opportunity to evaluate my progress (or the lack thereof). I like having this opportunity again and again. But let me hasten to say that there is no need in you having a new year if you are going to go into it with an old mind. You have to use the time you have been given and apply your heart unto wisdom. Do not focus so much on having a new year but focus on having a new mind. Determine to have a mindset that will maximize each moment and each second as a gift from God. Every day and every year is a new opportunity. It is an opportunity to experience the blessings of God. We, of all people, have a responsibility to receive that gift and maximize our moments.
