Not Without You campaign giving on schedule

Giving to the Not Without You campaign for Phase 2 construction remains on schedule, with the church expecting to raise 40 percent of the $2.3 million pledged in 2013.

Worship Center/Gym under construction

Workers hope to have the Worship Center/Gym under roof before winter sets in.

Dennis Roberts, executive administrator for church and academy operations, and Allen Angell, the deacon over follow-up to Not Without You giving, said the more than 360 members giving to the three-year campaign have already contributed more than $712,000 to date. The amount includes some one-time gifts and $244,320 in giving last December.

“We are still tracking above the normal monthly average,” Roberts said. “Historically, we’ve received 40 percent of our campaigns in the first year which also is typical of what you see in fundraising campaigns in general.”

Added Angell, “We’re very pleased with where we are, and thank people for their faithfulness and excitement as we grow and help build facilities that will allow us to point even more lives to Christ in Kernersville and beyond.”

Katherine Bean and Catherine Nifong first shared the good news with members in a new format: a “Triad Today” video the hosted which aired Oct. 27 during services. The first of several quarterly “Triad Today” video updates to come also included a construction highlights from Landmark Builders.

Coming this month: exterior walls and the pouring of concrete for the second floor. In December, work on the roof will begin to get the 44,460 square-foot Worship Center/Gym building enclosed in time for the winter. Workers hope to have the building ready for the 2014-2015 school year and Triad Baptist Christian Academy’s first 10th-grade class.

The “Triad Today” video used architectural renderings and video footage to show members the location of the building’s Welcome Center and the eight multipurpose classrooms the church and school will share.

Getting involved in the campaign

Along with prayers for good weather, the continued safety of those working on Triad’s campus and other prayer support, Roberts and Angell said anyone who wants to become involved can contribute long after Commitment Sunday last April 28.

“Just call the Church Office (996-7573) and request a capital campaign commitment card,” Roberts said.

Angell said that the Not Without You campaign also is presented to each First Step class.

The church is paying for the Worship Center/Gym project through three sources: the General Fund, the Not Without You campaign, and a $7.5 million loan from Bank of North Carolina which includes the rollover of the church’s previous debt.

Roberts said that the church will begin drawing on the construction loan this month.
