Family Fishing Day: Small fish, big fish, lots of fun

The hotdogs were grilling and the fish biting as Kids Street Children’s Ministry resumed a spring tradition: Family Fishing Day.

Aaron Noah and his dad, Derek, reeled in the whopper of the May 2 event, held at a private pond in Kernersville: a 6-pound, 8-ounce largemouth bass.

Nearly 30 fish were caught in all, with Payton Gatewood catching the first at 9:02 a.m.

The Family Fishing Day winners were: Lauren Cecile, Jayden Deal, Payton Gatewood, Quincy Haltom, Claire Moodie, Lily Moodie, Aaron Noah, Derek Noah and Trent Willis.

In addition to the fishing and prizes, families enjoyed a lunch prepared by Ron and Sandy Cecile and Kent and Liz Needham.

“It’s always a great day and opportunity for parents not only to enjoy time with their children but to deepen relationships with others, and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation,” said Tim Gerber, executive pastor for children and ministries. “It's also a time when we can use the fun to teach faith lessons.”
